In accordance with the regulatory and legislative provisions in force and in particular the Executive decree No. 09-410 of 10 December 2009, as amended and supplemented, laying down the security rules applicable to activities involving sensitive equipment, it is important to note that post-paid and prepaid cards (mobile phone chips) are considered to be sensitive equipment in accordance with subsection 4 of section A of the appendix I in question.
Thus the procedure in the event of theft, in accordance with article 26 of the aforementioned decree: «In the event of theft or disappearance of sensitive equipment, the holder is required to immediately inform the territorially competent security services as well as the authorisation-issuing authorities cited in articles 13,17 and 20.
When the theft or disappearance occurs on the territory of a Wilaya other than that of the location, the nearest security service must be informed without delay. The report of the theft or disappearance is then confirmed with the national security services or the national gendarmerie as well as the relevant services of the Wilaya of the place of business or residence».
As a result, the subscriber must report the theft to the nearest local or national police station, and submit a copy of the declaration to the operator in order to systematically stop and block the chip.
